Choreography of Shadows, Unique, Diptych folder

Portfolio photos of ‘Promahones /Προμαχώνες’

“Promahones”. An ancient Greek word with various meanings until today; battlements, bastions, vanguards. The impact of the trace of the phenomenon can be at times stronger than the phenomenon itself. I experimented intensely with the effect of the light and the shadows as well as the sounds of the sculpture. The result was “A Choreography of Shadows”, a large series of photos and “The Sound of PROMAHONES” a percussion piece by Argentinian composer Pablo Ortiz.Even if what we see is absent, this does not mean that it ceases to exist. What remains is the trace, the shadow of things, their impression. I feel that there is a “non-material” reality, which is often infinitely more vivid than the one recorded by our five senses. This “second”, “parallel” reality can be a source of knowledge, the “other dimension of the world”, that invites us through the works of art to unite ourselves with it.
